My first time...

Hello. This is Lisa. This is my first foray into the wonderful world of blogging. For some time now, Jeremy has entertained the masses (or the few) with his witty musings of the world around him. Also for some time he has told me that I should make a guest appearance on his website. I played with the idea of doing my own blog, but then I realized that it would be so much easier to just post occasionally on his (does this make me a mooch?) So what does the primary proof-reader of this site have to say? I've got a few things in mind.

My first rant about the world concerns something that most people (ok, I think all people) really don't care about. But I do, so therefore I'm going to make you care about it. Everyone ready for this?

Popsicle Sticks.

Now I'm not talking about the ones you can buy by the thousands in boxes at the craft stores. No, I'm talking about actual popsicle sticks. They don't have to be in popsicles specifically, but the ones that are stuck inside frozen treats. These are the ones I'm talking about.

Most people, pay no attention to these seemingly simple things, but this is a mistake. If people paid attention to them, they would realize what they are doing. Willingly sticking wood in their mouths. Wood does not taste good, this is why people don't go around licking trees. Popsicle sticks are no different, they taste HORRIBLE. It almost makes the whole popsicle experience not worth it.

We are able to make microscopic microchips, we have a new webpage every six seconds, but we are still licking wooden popsicle sticks. There has to be a better way. How hard would it be to change the sticks to plastic? We use enough plastic to wrap everything else, why can't we put it to good use and make popsicle sticks? With our advanced technology, we can make a sweetener actually taste like sugar, so surely we can add flavor to a popsicle stick. Any of these solutions would work. Anything to make them not taste like the wood that they are.

Next time you start a popsicle and get down to the stick, think about this. Then tell me what you think of the taste of wood.
